Transitional Youth is teaming up with My Father's House September 13, 2025 to bring a favorite event, the Troutdale Trot, back to life! Together, both organizations hope to demonstrate to the greater community that collaboration can help youth and families overcome poverty and homelessness. The Troutdale Trot begins at 8:00 a.m., at the Troutdale Market parking lot, 3220 S. Troutdale Road. The shared fundraiser includes a 5K, 10K, and the Turtle Trot, a quarter-mile race for children.
As supporters, you already know that Transitional Youth provides long-term residential services for youth, ages 14-24, and mentorship for gradeschool-aged children. My Father's House provides similar services for families who are unhoused. Both ministries emphasize employment, saving money, life-skills, and other solutions to barriers to success. They often call on each other to support their clients with age-appropriate services and believe lifechange happens by teaching responsibility, accountabiliy, and a strong work ethic.

FAITHFUL FRIENDS SPOTLIGHT
Living the dream at the races!
Friends of Portland International Raceway generously hosted our Faithful Friends matches for the Rose Cup Races on July 12. The kids arrived at the track full of excitement and ready to explore the cars, cheer on the racers, and enjoy lunch with some of the drivers. One of the day’s biggest highlights? Meeting several inspiring female racecar drivers who showed our kids that there’s no limit to what they can dream, or drive. We’re incredibly grateful to the Friends of PIR for hosting such a fun, educational, and inspiring day for our kids. Here are some photos of our young racers enjoying the ride!
Summer Fun Day at the Lake!
“Best Day Ever!” the kids squealed as they piled into the car, beaming and dripping wet from a day full of adventure, friendship, and sunshine at the Faithful Friends Summer Fun Day on Saturday, August 16. The Rasmussen Family generously hosted Faithful Friends and Transitional Youth for two back-to-back gatherings at their beautiful, activity-filled property. The kids immediately jumped into the fun: fishing rods were cast into the pond, paddleboards and kayaks zipped across the water, and more than a few joyful cannonballs could be heard coming off the docks. One mentee’s mom shared that her son had never been swimming before, and he was absolutely loving it. With his life jacket secured and his mentor by his side, he jumped right into a canoe, ready for an adventure.
Beyond the water, the children explored the property’s farm area, where Dave gave the kids a little real life talk about how the animals are raised as food. It was amusing to witness the kids wrestle with the idea. There were spirited volleyball games, laughter-filled rounds of ladder ball, and plenty of delicious summer snacks! But Summer Fun Day wasn’t just about activities. It was about building memories, strengthening bonds, and giving kids a chance to feel free, joyful, and seen. Thank you to the Rasmussen Family for opening their home and hearts, and to our wonderful mentors, mentees, and families who made the day unforgettable.
