We are excited to announce the launch of our new Resource Center and Outreach in the Parkrose area. This past weekend a team of staff and volunteers went out to serve hot breakfast burritos and cocoa to a community in need. Warm coats, hats, care kits, new socks and a lot of love and prayer filled the morning and afternoon hours. This is the first of many more moments serving in this area of need. As always, our mission isn’t to simply provide a meal for a moment, but hope for a lifetime; encounters that will lead to cycles being broken and life trajectories changed.
While our effort to reach youth across Oregon and Washington remains, we are stepping into a concentrated effort to establish a homebase for Outreach and services to better serve youth who are falling through the cracks in East Portland, Gresham and the surrounding areas. We haven’t had a concentrated location of outreach since our days (and YEARS) in downtown Portland.
This new Resource Center will offer a place for youth to receive practical necessities, prayer, and mentorship. In addition, the Braking Cycles job training program is growing! This Resource Center space will include Cooking and UpCycle Apprenticeships for youth 14-21 years old.
Along with these resources, staff and volunteer teams will utilize this space for DROP-IN services where hot meals and a clothing closet are provided, and OUTREACH services where teams will visit schools, agencies and neighborhoods for youth in need.
This beautiful space housing our new Resource Center is in partnership with Restoration Church and Rivercrest Church in NE Portland. If you are interested in joining us in this new venture, please reach out. We would love to have you join us!
