Volunteer Opportunities
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Transitional Youth!
Below you will find all the documentation needed to join our dedicated team of volunteers.
Each volunteer is required to complete the application provided prior to serving at the Outreach Center. Additionally, Transitional Youth requires all volunteers to attend the next available quarterly training. Please contact Kurt Heath (kheath@transitionalyouth.org) for information on upcoming training sessions and other volunteer related services.
If you are a minor, you must also have your parents sign and date the attached authorization form prior to any volunteer service. Applications and consent forms may be emailed to kheath@transitionalyouth.org or faxed to 503.670.5879.
We need the following positions filled on an ongoing basis:
Individuals:
• Prayer Partners
• Church Liaison’s/prayer partners (please ask for more information)
Events:
• Banquet: Table hosts, sponsorship team, decorating, publicity
• Golf Tournament
• Silent Auctions
Office:
• Desktop publishing support: newsletters and special projects
• Office work: data entry, bulk mail preparation, filing
• Computer Technician
Direct Services (Requires interview and criminal background check):
• Life-skills Group Instructors
• Outreach: Food Service, clothing, mentors, retreats
• Bible study leaders: In home Bible Study, 1-2 hours weekly
• Arts and crafts instructors
• Respite House Parents
Hands on:
• Building trades: Carpentry, electrical, plumbing
• Grounds work: Gardening, mowing, trimming
• Recreational special activity days for residents, to provide exposure to hobbies, arts and crafts or cultural experiences
• Handyman: Minor household repairs
• Appliance repair
• Historian/scrap booker
• Automotive repair
• Medical & Dental Professional Services
Volunteer Activities for Groups:
• Home renovation projects
• Spring/Fall cleaning days
• Seasonal outdoor yard work
• Interior decorating of a designated area
• Holiday Activities: Special meals, shopping assistance, party planning
